The detection engine uses a combination of rolling z-scores for normally distributed metrics and seasonal decomposition for time-series with weekly or monthly patterns. Thresholds are configurable per metric: a five-percent dip in daily revenue might warrant a Slack alert, while a twenty-percent spike in error rates triggers a PagerDuty page. Alerts include context — the metric value, the expected range, the deviation magnitude, and a deep link to the relevant dashboard — so the recipient can triage immediately without hunting for data. We also implement alert fatigue mitigation: related anomalies are grouped into a single notification, recurring false positives are auto-suppressed after review, and severity levels ensure that only critical issues interrupt off-hours.
